The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC) in Pogo Minna,Niger state, witnessed a massive explosion in the early hours of sunday.
The explosion was believed to have started as a result of some leakages from the pipes, which was earlier noticed on saturday night by the workers.
The workers made continous efforts to control the situation, but some black marketers around the neighbourhood quickly took notice of the broken pipes and started scooping the contents from the leakage, and this later led to the massive explosion, which disrupted movements along Minna- suleja road.
However, the state fire service quickly intervened and stopped the explosion.the police,Civil Defence and the Niger state emergency agency (NASEMA)stormed the Depot and helped to prevent further scooping by the black marketers.
The Level of damages are yet to be ascertained, and no casualties were recorded.
