The residents of Jibia local government area of katsina state have been in turmoil following the heavy rainstorm which claimed 38 lives and destroyed over 200 properties.
The disaster was alleged to have started on sunday night,and lasted few hours later.
The State Emergency Management Agency’s (SEMA) Executive Secretary,Mr Aminu Waziri,who confirmed the incident,stated that the affected areas were Tundun Takari,Dan Tudu,Unguwar Kwa kwa and Unguwar Mai kwari areas located around river axis.
“what we are doing presently is to find a temporary accomodation for the victims of the disaster”.
He further stated that presently rescue team was still in Jabia,assisting the people and that 21 people have been buried and 17 people are yet to be buried.
Waziri,further stated that the State Governor Mr Aminu Masari has visited the area to see the victims as well as access the level of properties damaged.
