The Federal Government and the Trade Union Congress has recently concluded on a specified amount to serve as the Nigerian’s New Minimum Wage,This was Announced on Wednesday by the President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria(TUC),Mr Bobbai Kaigama.
The Nigerian New Minimum wage said to be announced next week,with the federal government setting a date in september to begin implementation of the New Minimum wage to workers.
Mr Kaigama,in his brief interview with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN),hinted that the committee working on the negotiation,has almost come to a conclusion. He further added that:
“The tripartite meeting is holding on today,but I don’t want to pre-empt the outcome or the level we have reached in our discussions,otherwise there will be unnecessary anxiety.
“But by the end of August, I am. Assuring you that the workers will know what the agreed minimum wage would be”.
Over the years,the civil servants in Nigeria are known to be the least in the wage structure in the country,and lowest in the world.
However,president Muhammadu Buhari, on November 22 2017,was believed to have appointed a 30 member committee for restructuring the Nigerian minimum wage.
