Mr Borishade Adeniyi, The Apapa Local Government chapter chairman was shot dead,during the weekend in a meeting of People Democratic Party(PDP)members at Igbosuku village, Eti-osa local government area of Lagos State,which resulted to a fight that broke out between factions.
The incident reportedly occurred around 6pm, towards the end of the meeting,when a serious quarrel erupted between two contending factions,and thereafter lead to a serious confrontation between The state Chairman Mr moshood Adegoke, and Engr Fasasi.
However,Adeniyi was shot on the leg during the process,and was immediately rushed to the hospital In Obalande Lagos, where he received treatment alongside two other victims of the attack before he died.
Five chieftains of the party were also apprehended by the police,and were being detained at the State criminal investigation and intelligence department,(SCIID )Yaba.
The state police public relations officer Mr Chike Out, in his statement confirmed that the body of the deceased had been deposited in the mortuary. He also added that
“The Commissioner of Police is worried about the use of firearms and the frequency of violence involving PDP in the state. It will be recalled that on July 12, two suspected party thugs, Wale Oye, 37, and Ganiyu Ajiboluwa, 47, were arrested at Festac Extension by Apple Junction, Amuwo Odofin with two pump action rifles given to them by a PDP politician.
“They were all arrested and are helping the Police investigations. “CP warns that no political party will be allowed to truncate the peace in the state. He, therefore calls on all political parties in Lagos to disarm their members as nobody without necessary authorisation is permitted to bear firearms.
“He added that henceforth, political party leaders will be liable for the actions of their supporters.”
