Serious confusion has recently been mounted on the Bayelsa state police command, following Mr Don Awunah’s removal and succession.
Two commissioners of police have been deployed to the Bayelsa state police command to succeed Mr Awunah, barely 48 hours after his removal.
The confusion was believed to have erupted when Joseph Mokain was deployed on Monday as New Commissioner of police in Bayelsa State. While on Tuesday Mohammed Bello was also deployed as the new commissioner of the state.
The replacement was believed to have been manipulated by Governor Seriake Dickson and the Ex Governor,Chief Timipre Sylvia of the All Progressive congress(APC)
Information gathered from sources, holds that Joseph Mokain’s former Administration as the Deputy Commissioner of police at the Bayelsa state police command didn’t flow well with Governor Dickson. Mokain was alleged of frustrating PDP’s election moves during the 2016 governorship election, which was Later won by Governor Dickson of the PDP’s Party.
Mohammed Bello’s deployment was alleged to have been initited by Governor Dickson’s Condolence Visit to the Inspector General of police, Ibrahim Idris office, over the death of the former IG,Ibrahim Coomasie.
However, Bello who is yet to resume office at the Bayelsa state police command, was supposedly tied down with some unfinished assignment in Ekiti state. He was also reported to have also served as the deputy commissioner of police, and commander of the state security apparatus known as Door AKpoor.
Mokain, was also reported to have resumed work at the Bayelsa state police command on Tuesday.
