A pregnant woman identified as Mariam Oghenero was reportedly burnt to death alongside two other neighbours who sustained serious fire burns,following a kerosene explosion that happened in the early hours of Thursday at Oleh community, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to a witness, Mariam poured some kerosene into her cooking stove,and immediately she tried to lit the stove,the kerosene stove exploded, two other neighbours who were at the scene of the incident sustained serious fire burns while trying to rescue Mariam.
The victims were immediately rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately Mariam died on their way to the hospital,while the two others are currently receiving treatment at the Oleh general hospital.
Further statements from the neighbours confirmed that the kerosene was adulterated,and must have been the reason for the sudden explosion.
James Oghenero,the husband of the deceased lamented saying “The explosion indicated the kerosene was adulterated, no hope again, my wife and baby gone, where do I start from?
Meanwhile,Some officers from Oleh police division, who visited the incident scene confirmed that samples of the kerosene would be taken to prove if it was adulterated,also adding that investigation would commence immediately to ascertain the culprit.
