The WHO has begun the first round of the two phase oral vacination (OCV),following the Cholera Outbreak in Adamawa State which has recorded about 1,500 cases and 25 deaths.
The Implementation Campaign which is said to commence from june 10-june 17,kicks off in high risks-wards of Mubi North, Mubi south and Maiha local government.
This was reported to be WHO first ever Cholera vaccine exercise in the state,with the release of 750,000 doses OCV by the International Cordinating Group(ICG).
“The initial Batch of 378,815 doses of the vaccine had already been delivered to Nigeria for the first round of the Campaign,while vaccines for the second round would be released after successful implemetation and report of the first round “WHO Said.
The state commissioner of health,Abubakar Fatima confirmed that a swift response has been made since the cholera outbreak was confirmed in some local governments of the state,and the intiatives implemented will foster the control of the outbreak.
